Defence Ministry denies reports of Chinook helicopter model missing as misleading. Defence Ministry spokesperson A Bharat Bhushan Babu said on Saturday that reports circulating about the disappearance of a Chinook helicopter model installed by DRDO in Lucknow during DefExpo 2020 are misleading. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has never set up any model of the helicopter in Lucknow.
Reports that a model of Chinook chopper is missing are refuted by the Defence Ministry as untrue. The claims going around regarding the loss of a Chinook helicopter model built by DRDO in Lucknow during DefExpo 2020 are inaccurate, according to Defence Ministry spokesperson A Bharat Bhushan Babu on Saturday.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has never set up any model of the helicopter in Lucknow. No models were missing during the DefExpo 2020 exhibition.
DRDO also termed the reports as misleading
DRDO too has termed the reports as “misleading”. Officials said the helicopter’s model in Sector 20 of Vrindavan Yojana area in Lucknow was in a malfunctioning condition. It was removed as the helipad was to be constructed for the Prime Minister’s visit to the city for a G20-related event.
“There are rumors circulating that DRDO had installed Chinook helicopter model at Lucknow during DefExpo 2020 and model is now missing, it said on ‘X.’ Chinook is manufactured by Boeing, and DRDO has never installed any helicopter model at Lucknow at any time, according to Babu. DefExpo 2020 was an incident-free exhibition and no product or model went missing during its conduct, the DRDO responded.
This report is false since DRDO has never erected a helicopter model in Lucknow, according to the statement.
According to officials, there was a model of a helicopter in a deteriorated state in Sector 20 of the Vrindavan Yojna district of Lucknow. Security professionals recommended that it be destroyed since a helipad needed to be built in preparation for the prime minister’s visit to the city for a G20 event.
