Haiti Violence: Violence has once again erupted in the Caribbean country Haiti. Due to which the most dangerous country in the world is in the grip of civil war. At the same time, armed gangs attacked two jails here, after which about 4000 prisoners escaped from this jail. The absconding prisoners include many dreaded criminals who commit incidents like murder, robbery and kidnapping.

At the same time, after this incident, the Haitian government has declared a state of emergency for the next 72 hours across the country to re-arrest the prisoners who escaped from jail.

According to news agency Reuters, when the prisons in Haiti were attacked, no officers were present there. According to the agency’s report, at the time of the attack all the doors of the jail were found open and all the employees were missing from the spot. However, the Haitian government has come out with a different statement on the entire incident.

According to the government, when the miscreants attacked the jail, the policemen were present there and during this they were also injured.

The struggle for power has been going on for a long time

There has been a struggle between two parties for power in Haiti for a long time. Former police officer Jimmy Charizard’s gang wants to oust Prime Minister Ariel Henry, who has led the crisis-hit country since the assassination of President Jovenel Moise, in 2021.

This gang keeps attacking Haiti’s government institutions to carry out its intentions and wants to create discontent against the current government in the minds of the people of Haiti.

At the same time, in a similar violent incident last Sunday night, a gang attacked the jails of the country with weapons. Due to the attack, about 4000 criminals lodged in jails managed to escape. According to the information received by the reports, many prisoners along with policemen also died in this attack.

According to the information, there are many violent gangs in Haiti which are known for violent activities and these gangs attack not only government institutions but also residential areas.

Football stadium also captured

Haiti’s football federation said gunmen from gangs had also taken over the country’s top football stadium and vandalized it. An employee was held hostage for hours during the attack. Information about firing has also come to light in many areas of the capital Port-au-Prince.

Over 11 million people are protected by Haiti’s National Police, which has roughly 9,000 personnel, according to the UN. Regularly, the gangs, who are thought to hold 80% of Port-au-Prince, overpower and subdue them.

In less than two weeks, numerous state institutions have been attacked by gangs, who are increasingly coordinating their actions and choosing unlikely targets such as the Central Bank.

Following last week’s shootings by gangs at Haiti’s international airport, the US Embassy said it was halting all official travel to the country and on Sunday night urged all US citizens to depart as soon as possible.

Henry traveled abroad

The gangs say they want to remove Prime Minister Ariel Henry. Henry traveled abroad last week to try to drum up support for bringing a U.N.-backed security force into Haiti to stem the conflict with increasingly powerful crime groups.

The assaults are the brainchild of Jimmy Charizard, a crime syndicate leader and former elite police officer known as Barbecue. Capturing Haiti’s police head and government officials was the aim, he added, in order to stop Henry from coming back.
