Bill related to 65 percent reservation for extremely backward castes and scheduled tribes in admission in institutions passed unanimously. The bill to increase the limit of reservation for Scheduled Castes, Tribes, and Other Backward Classes in government services and educational institutions was passed unanimously in the Bihar Assembly on Thursday. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that the state government will soon implement the facilities provided through these bills.

A bill to increase the limit of reservation for Scheduled Castes, Tribes, and Other Backward Classes in government services and educational institutions was passed unanimously in the Bihar Assembly on Thursday.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that the state government will soon implement the facilities provided through these bills.

The main opposition BJP not only supported the bill but also demanded increasing the reservation limit to 79 percent.

10 percent reservation will continue

The Parliamentary Affairs Minister clarified that 10 percent reservation will continue for economically weaker people. There will be a total of 75 percent reservation in appointment in government services and admission to educational institutions.

The Chief Minister said that the reservation limit has been increased based on caste-based calculations. This is a historic day for the state.

In the calculations, the economic condition of every section of the society has been assessed. On this basis, it has been decided to assist Rs 2 lakh to 94 lakh poor families.

With this amount, they will improve their financial condition. Financial provisions are being made for this. Rs 2.5 lakh crore will be spent on the scheme in five years.

The state will become prosperous if it gets special status: Nitish Kumar Pointing towards the BJP members, the Chief Minister said that they should make efforts to get special state status for Bihar. The state will be prosperous if it gets special status.

Everyone will have to work together for development. They will be happy if everyone moves together. He said that the total reservation has been increased by 15 percent.

10 percent reservation was already being given for economically weaker sections and 50 percent for other sections. Reservation is given to Scheduled Castes and Tribes based on their numbers.

Their population is about 22 percent. Therefore, a provision for 22 percent reservation has also been made. He urged the House that both the reservation-related bills should be passed unanimously.

BJP MLA Arun Shankar Prasad demanded that the scope of reservation be increased to 79 percent.

Important points related to the reservation

-The provision of reservation in vacancies in Bihar posts and services (for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Castes, and Other Backward Classes) (Amendment) Bill 2023 has been made in this way.

-Scheduled Castes-20 percent -Scheduled Tribes-02 percent -Extremely Backward Classes-25 percent -Backward Classes-18 percent -Open Gunagun Koti-35 percent. (In this, 10 percent of seats are for economically weaker sections). According to the bill, only SCs and STs will get special facilities in the matter of promotion.
