Biden has decided to delegate US Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy to the board of the World Health Organization (WHO). He has sent a proposal in this regard to the US Senate. Dr. Vivek will join the Executive Board of WHO for the second time by becoming a representative of America.

The name of 46-year-old doctor Dr Vivek Murthy has been sent again. According to the report, the wait for consensus on his name has been happening for the last 14 months. The proposal to include Dr Vivek on the WHO board has been pending in the Senate since October 2022. The White House said that Dr. Murthy was the first American Surgeon General of Indian origin. He has studied at Harvard University.
In March 2021, the US Senate approved the name of Dr. Vivek as the 21st Surgeon General of the country. He previously served as the 19th Surgeon General of the United States during President Barack Obama’s tenure. According to reports, on January 8, the proposal was sent to the Senate on behalf of the White House. It mentions the name of Dr. Vivek.
Dr. Vivek is associated with Karnataka and reached America
At the age of three, the roots of the statue are associated with ancestors living in Karnataka. Dr Murthy, the child of immigrants from Karnataka to England, was born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire. About 45 years ago, Murthy’s family moved to the Canadian province of Newfoundland. After coming here in 1978, Murthy’s father got the post of District Medical Officer. Murthy first came to the US at the age of three, when the family moved to Miami.
Growing up in Miami, Dr. Vivek studied medicine at Yale School of Medicine and studied management at Yale School of Management. Apart from being a doctor, he is also recognized as a research scientist, entrepreneur, and writer.
Currently, Dr Vivek Murthy lives in Washington with his wife Dr Alice Chen, and their two children. More than 6000 health officers appointed to serve the US’s most disadvantaged and vulnerable populations come under Dr. Vivek. This is because Dr. Vivek also holds the position of Vice Admiral in the Commissioned Corps of the US Public Health Service – the US Public Health Service.
