The presence of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal on the Phoenix Suns roster makes fans dream of bigger goals in the NBA. However, the two losses to the Boston Celtics left a certain distrust in the potential that the team can present, especially when facing strong opponents in the competition, as was the case in the duels against the Celtics, in which the Suns were dominated in a calm way by their opponent.
Against the Charlotte Hornets, the Suns faced an opponent without many pretensions in the NBA and, the ease of the confrontation, demonstrated that this tranquility was necessary for the team to reorganize itself in the competition and start dreaming of the playoffs. Despite a narrow victory by 107 x 96, the result served for the team to remain in seventh place and another positive result could put the team in the playoff zone.

Just like in the loss to the Celtics, Devin Booker was the name of the team. In the previous duel, the player had scored 23 points and against the Hornets, he scored 21 points, being the basket of the game alongside Vasilije Micić, a 30-year-old player who plays for the Charlotte franchise. Kevin Durant and Beal, names that carry with them a responsibility for good performances, did not do well, but did not hinder the final result of the duel.
Phoenix Suns seek unprecedented feat in the NBA this season
Despite the unlikely chances of surpassing last season’s campaign, in which they were fourth in the Western Conference, the Suns seek to chase away a ghost that has plagued the team throughout its history. Even though they are one of the most traditional teams in the NBA, the Suns have never managed to win the tournament and, since 2021, they have not known what it is to win the Conference.
Present in the finals of 1976, 1993 and 2021, the team had in these years the dream of winning its first title in the tournament but ended up failing and disappointing its fans. In 2023/24 and with the presence of big stars, the Suns finally hope for new directions in their history and join the select group of teams that won the tournament.
In the next round, the Hornets will face, this Saturday (16), the Philadelphia 76ers. The Suns, on the other hand, will have more rest time in the NBA and will only return next Sunday (17), when they go to Milwaukee to face the hosts.
