He remains put! The Dallas Mavericks confirmed that coach and NBA semifinals Jason Kidd’s contract has been extended, following reports of a potential transfer to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The team made the announcement that Kidd’s contract will be extended on Monday morning. He had a deal with the Mavs that expired at the end of the next campaign. The duration of the agreement is kept private. They will remain for a few more years, that much is clear. (See the news release that follows.)

With this well-earned contract extension, Coach Kidd will be leading our club for many years to come. We are quite happy about it, stated club Governor Patrick Dumont. In only three seasons, Kidd has guided our club to two postseason visits, and we are excited about his leadership as we continue to forge ahead and elevate an already fantastic franchise.
In addition to recognizing Kidd’s outstanding season-long play, the Mavs’ decision to extend him also seeks to dissuade him from considering a transfer to Los Angeles, where he would have joined the Lakers, who just dismissed coach Darvin Ham and are now searching for a replacement.
