Ruturaj Gaikwad captaincy Just before the start of IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings has taken a big decision. The team has appointed Ruturaj Gaikwad as the captain for this season. That means MS Dhoni will play as a player in the 17th season of the Indian Premier League. Chennai Super Kings have to face Royal Challengers Bangalore in their first match of the tournament on March 22.

Just before the start of IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings has taken a shocking decision. For the 17th season of the Indian Premier League, CSK has handed over the command of the team to Ruturaj Gaikwad. That means MS Dhoni will not be seen captaining Chennai this season. Chennai has to face Royal Challengers Bangalore in its first match of the tournament.

Before the start of IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings has taken a big decision. CSK has appointed Ruturaj Gaikwad as the new captain of the team for the 17th season of the Indian Premier League. This season, MS Dhoni will not be the team’s captain. The previous season, the Chennai Super Kings, led by Mahesh Bhupati, defeated the Gujarat Titans in the final to win the IPL trophy for the sixth time.

CSK’s performance was excellent under Mahi’s captaincy

The performance of Chennai Super Kings under the captaincy of MS Dhoni was excellent. Under the leadership of Dhoni, CSK won the IPL trophy five times. Dhoni has been captaining the team since 2008. In the year 2022, CSK handed over the command of the team to Ravindra Jadeja just before the start of the season. However, the team’s performance under Jadeja’s captaincy was disappointing and Dhoni was re-appointed captain in the middle of the season.

Ruturaj’s performance has been excellent

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s performance for Chennai Super Kings in the last few seasons has been excellent. In the last season, Ruturaj scored 590 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 147. Ruturaj had scored four half-centuries. At the same time, in IPL 2022, the opening batsman had scored 368 runs in 14 matches, which included 3 fifties.
