Terrorists suddenly attacked a military vehicle going towards its destination on the Thanamandi-Bafliyal road in the Donad area of Poonch. According to sources, three soldiers have been sacrificed in this attack.
There is news of terrorists ambushing and attacking a military vehicle in the Poonch district of the Jammu division on Thursday afternoon. It is being told that terrorists suddenly attacked a military vehicle going towards its destination on Thanamandi-Bafliyal road in the Donad area of the district. According to sources, three soldiers have been sacrificed in this attack and three others are injured.
The soldiers immediately sensing the situation took charge. Police and army officials were also informed about the attack. Additional forces have reached the spot. The surrounding area has been cordoned off. If sources are to be believed, the terrorists first threw a grenade and then started firing. The soldiers also responded to the terrorists’ attack. Right now firing is going on from both sides.
On the other hand, Defense PRO said, ‘A joint operation was launched on Wednesday based on solid intelligence in the area. Firing with terrorists started on Thursday evening. The encounter is going on. Officials said additional forces have been sent to the spot.
A day before, a suspicious explosion took place in Surankot, Poonch
Earlier on the night of Wednesday-Tuesday, a suspicious explosion took place in the premises of the sixth vehicle of the armed police in Surankot tehsil of Poonch district. Many vehicles were damaged in this. After receiving information about the incident, the security forces arrived cordoned off the area, and investigated. However, no significant clue was found till late Wednesday night.

There are rumors that it was a domestic bomb with a small capacity. People are in a panic following the strange explosion.

This is the third suspicious blast in Surankot tehsil in four months and the second incident in the town in a month. The first suspicious blast in the tehsil took place late at night on 15 September 2023 in the courtyard of the house of DDC member and BJP hill leader Advocate Sohail Malik in Fazalabad village. Suhail Malik’s car was damaged in this. At the same time, on the night of 15 November 2022, there was an explosion in the Shiv Krishna temple complex located behind the Surankot bus stand. Now, a month later, on 19th December, late at night there was an explosion in the Armed Police Camp premises.
Memories of 2002 to 2004 refreshed
The blasts in Surankot tehsil are reminiscent of the period between 2002 and 2004 in the district. At that time, incidents of grenade throwing used to happen every one and a half weeks in the district headquarters in Poonch Nagar.
