UFC Judge Howie Booth’s bizarre 30-27 Tai Tuivasa Scorecard provokes fury and demands quick action.
UFC Judge Howie Booth was relieved of his co-main event duties at UFC 305 in the middle of the evening due to a heated scorecard. Even though Jairzinho Rozenstruik was clearly the stronger fighter in the fight, Booth gave Tai Tuivasa a puzzling 30-27 score in his favor. In sharp contrast to the other two judges’ cards, which gave Rozenstruik the clear victory in the fight, this ruling.
The Western Australian Combat Sports Commission acted swiftly in reaction to the unexpected and heavily criticized scorecard, deciding to relieve Booth of his duties for the co-main event involving Steve Erceg and Kai Kara-France. Fortunately, Kara-France won the co-main event with a shocking first-round knockout, thus this change had no effect on the result.
Fan Outrage and Swift Reaction
Supporters were quick to express their displeasure with Booth’s contentious scoring. Many people referred to it as one of the worst scorecards in recent memory as social media exploded with outrage. The Perth commission acted decisively to rectify the problem as a result of the strong outcry.
After the decision, UFC Senior Vice President David Shaw said, stressing how important it is to maintain tight standards for judges and law enforcement. Shaw said, “Everyone needs to be held to a high standard.” It’s reasonable to let someone who doesn’t perform their work duties while making sure they reflect and get better.
Jairzinho Rozenstruik’s Reaction
It seems sense that Rozenstruik, who was hoping to move up the UFC heavyweight rankings, was uneasy about the strange scoreline. He did, however, voice his delight with the prompt action done to remove Booth. After the battle, Rozenstruik commented, “That was crazy,” and added, jokingly, “It might be a judge from Australia, but it’s fine.” Finally, he made a definite declaration, “He better [be removed].”
The incident serves as a reminder of the UFC’s dedication to impartial judging and the significance of precise scoring for preserving the sport’s integrity.
