“CBI has to behave fairly.” The TMC Rajya Sabha MP stated on social media that “custodial interrogation of Ex Principal and Police Commissioner is a must to know who and why floated suicide story.”As part of their probe into the rape and death of a woman doctor, Sukhendu Roy, a seasoned member of the Trinamool Congress, requested on Sunday that the CBI examine the commissioner of the Kolkata Police and the former principal of R G Kar Medical College and Hospital while they are in detention.
Roy’s Controversial Demands and Police Summons
The arrest and detention of Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of R G Kar Medical College Hospital, and Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal have caused controversy, according to well-known Trinamool Congress (TMC) politician and Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Shekhar Roy. The inquiry into the rape and killing of a hospital junior physician is connected to his requests. Roy has called for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to examine these prominent individuals in the midst of criticism directed towards the Kolkata police’s handling of the matter.
Sukhendu Roy remarks on social media contend that the CBI’s involvement is required to address a number of critical inquiries regarding the case, such as why a fictitious suicide tale was shared, why certain evidence was handled improperly, and why the inquiry appeared to be taking longer than expected. In response, Roy was called to the Kolkata police headquarters in Lalbazar and charged with disseminating false information.
Internal TMC Disagreement and Sukhendu Roy Advocacy for Legal Reform

The TMC is split on Roy’s behavior. Sukhendu Roy remarks have drawn public criticism from TMC spokesman Kunal Ghosh, who described them as regrettable and at odds with the party’s official position. Commissioner Goyal was supported by Ghosh, who said that the police had been thorough and the inquiry was proceeding as planned.
Apart from his calls for responsibility in the R G Kar case, Roy has also made a strong argument for more extensive legislative changes. On August 14, he participated in a demonstration that began at midnight. On August 16, he wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging the creation of a stricter law that would increase the protection of medical personnel, women, and children in a variety of situations. In order to guarantee prompt justice, Sukhendu Roy letter recommended creating fast-track courts in each district and prescribed severe punishments for major offenses. To help the relatives of the victims heal and become stable, he also suggested giving them financial support and job placements.
