With intermittent violent occurrences in West Bengal, the third round of the Lok Sabha elections had a voter participation of 60.19% until 5 p.m. on Tuesday across 93 seats distributed over 11 States and Union Territories. The greatest turnout was reported in Assam (74.86%), followed by West Bengal (73.93%) and Maharashtra (53.63%), with Bihar performing somewhat better (56.01%).

In the third phase, more than 1,300 candidates—about 120 of them are women—are in the running. The Union ministers Amit Shah (Gandhinagar), Jyotiraditya Scindia (Guna), Parshottam Rupala (Rajkot), Pralhad Joshi (Dharwad), Digvijya Singh (Rajgargh), and S.P. Singh Baghel (Agra) are among the prominent figures.
According to the most recent statistics released by the Election Commission of India, the polling in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections, which began in the early morning hours of Tuesday concurrently throughout 93 seats, achieved an approximate voter participation of 63.47 percent.
According to the most recent data from the ECI, Assam had the greatest voter turnout—76.91 percent—while Uttar Pradesh had the lowest—57.34 percent.
According to the most recent ECI data, the voter turnout in the other states that held their third phase of voting on Tuesday was as follows: Bihar -58.02 percent; Chhattisgarh -69.17 percent; Goa -74.59 percent; Gujarat -57.48 percent; Karnataka -69.54 percent; Madhya Pradesh -66.05 percent; Maharashtra – 61.05 percent; and West Bengal -73.96 percent.

Polling was supposed to run until 6 p.m., however the ECI reported that voters were frequently seen waiting in line for lengthier periods of time than the appointed time.
The ECI said that all States/UTs, including vulnerable and LWE-affected districts in Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh, as well as the entire northeastern region of the nation, saw a seamless and peaceful third phase of voting. Phase 3 of the polling for the general elections of 2024 has concluded in 20 States/UTs and 283 PCs. There were 1331 contenders in all, around 120 of them were female, competing in this round of voting. In this phase, votes may be cast at 1.85 lakh polling places by a total of 17.24 crore voters.
In 25 seats, Gujarat has a provisional voter participation of 56.91 percent
Despite the intense heat and reports of EVM malfunctions and fraudulent voting in certain areas, a provisional voter participation of 56.91 percent was registered in Gujarat’s single-phase polling for 25 Lok Sabha seats. Nevertheless, officials said that the election proceeded peacefully overall. In the 2019 legislative elections, Gujarat had a 64.11 percent voter turnout.

The NDA will win three of the four Assamese seats that were up for election today. For obvious reasons, the fourth one is a competition.”
