The Maldives has given a big blow to Pakistan. Maldives has terminated the agreement with the Pakistan government after receiving reports of adulteration of cough syrup and medicines.

The company’s syrup section sealed

After receiving information from Maldives, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan sealed the syrup section of the company. It is said that the substances used in the syrup include hydraulic brake fluid, stamp pad ink, paint, plastic, and beauty.

(“A company representative named Fayaz Ahmed stated that DAP had closed the company’s syrup division. No company does this on purpose, he said. He won’t say much about this at this time.”)

Violations in syrups and medicines

According to Dawn, the authority may also initiate legal action against the company after receiving the lab test report. According to a statement, medical instructions issued by WHO were violated in five different syrups and medicines found in Maldives and Pakistan.

A pharmacist told Dawn that DEG and EG were used in liquid preparations for antifreeze around the world. The use of hydraulic brake fluid, stamp pad ink, ballpoint pens, solvents, paints, plastics, and products has come to light.

Samples sent for testing

According to Drape CEO Asim Rauf, the regulator had issued protocols, and all companies were bound to follow them. He said the Lahore-based company had manufactured its products in 2021 before the protocols were issued and defects were found in some batches in the Maldives and Pakistan. At present these samples have been sent to the laboratory for testing.
