MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Chipset Launched MediaTek said that smartphones powered by the Dimensity 8300 chipset will be launched in the market before the end of this year. The newly launched chipset has 20 percent better performance and consumes 30 percent less power compared to the old one. MediaTek claims that the Dimensity 8300 comes with full generative AI support.
Taiwanese fabless chip maker MediaTek on Tuesday launched a new MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chipset for premium 5G smartphones with a focus on Generator AI features, power efficiency, and connectivity.
MediaTek said that smartphones powered by Dimensity 8300 chipset will be launched in the market before the end of this year. The newly launched chipset has 20 percent better performance and consumes 30 percent less power compared to the old one.
Features of MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chipset
The Dimensity 8300 is based on TSMC’s second-generation 4nm process and features an octa-core CPU consisting of four Arm Cortex-A715 cores and four Cortex-A510 cores built on Arm’s V9 CPU architecture. It is paired with Mali-G615 MC6 GPU.
The new chipset is equipped with AI feature
MediaTek claims that the Dimensity 8300 comes with full Generative AI support, equipped with the integrated APU 780 AI processor. The chipset comes with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 support as well as GPS, GLONASS, and NavIC support for GPS-based navigation. This chip will give tough competition to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipsets.
AI performance will increase 3 times
This will enable the Dimensity 8300 to help developers create innovative applications that want to take advantage of large language models (LLMs) up to 10B. The company said the APU 780 has the same architecture as the flagship Dimensity 9300 chipset, delivering a 2x improvement in INT and FP16 calculations and a 3.3x increase in AI performance compared to the Dimensity 8200. According to the company, the chip supports 320-megapixel cameras and 5G network downlink speeds of up to 5.17Gbps.
