Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments on Mangalsutra, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday said former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had donated her jewelery in the 1962 India-China war, while also questioning whether the Indian people No such sacrifice has been made by the party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments on mangalsutra, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday said former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had donated her jewelery in the 1962 India-China war, while he also questioned whether Indian No such sacrifice has been made by the Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Mallikarjun Kharge posted on X, What sacrifice has any BJP-RSS leader made for the country? He did not even participate in the national movement. For the sake of elections, Modi ji is lying to the people that his Mangalsutra will not be safe. Congress ruled this country for 55 years. Has this happened even once? Indira Gandhi had donated her jewelery during the 1962 war. Pandit Motilal Nehru and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru donated their house as Anand Bhawan in Allahabad to the freedom movement. Our leaders have sacrificed their lives and blood for the nation.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had last week alleged that the Congress wanted to snatch people’s gold and property and distribute it among those “having more children”.
He said that these days those who have left the Congress have pointed to the party’s manifesto and said that the party has fallen into the “capture of urban Naxalites”.
Referring to reports about the Congress’s intention to redistribute wealth if voted to power, the Prime Minister said the party will conduct a survey and they will not even let women have Mangal sutras and “will go to this extent.”
The PM said, when they (Congress) were in the government, they said that Muslims have the first right on India’s resources. So, they will distribute this wealth (property and gold) among people with more children, among illegal immigrants… This urban Naxalite thinking will not spare even your Mangal sutra.
In another rally, PM Modi said that his speech has created panic in the entire Congress and India faction.
