Four Medical Personnel Inquired In a shocking development in the murder case at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, four people have been called in by the police to be questioned.
These people, who were with the deceased, a female medical student, on the day of her death, include three junior doctors and one member of the house staff. These employees reportedly had supper with the victim, and the authorities are currently looking for them to find out where they were and what they did after the meal. The body of the 31-year-old trainee doctor was found on the morning of August 9 in a seminar hall at the hospital. Civic volunteer Sanjay Roy was arrested the following day in connection with the crime. The police have charged Roy under sections for rape and murder and have remanded him in custody until August 23.

Investigation Intensifies
The autopsy report on the victim’s body revealed severe injuries including bleeding from multiple areas such as the eyes, mouth, and private parts. The report confirmed that the victim had suffered from homicidal injuries and sexual assault. The cause of death was determined to be throttling and smothering, occurring between 3 am and 5 am on the morning of the murder. Protests around the country have been spearheaded by the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi in response to the tragedy. To demand justice for the deceased female doctor and to urge for improved security and respect for medical workers, a candle march was organized. The demonstrators also demanded that the government put strict safeguards in place for medical professionals.

Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, has intervened in the case and ordered that it be expedited in court.
