The death of a missing Indian student from America’s Purdue University has been confirmed. Neel Acharya was missing on January 28 and his body was found on the campus of Purdue University. In fact, on Sunday, Gauri Acharya, the mother of the deceased student, had made a post on X and appealed to find her son. Authorities identified the body at 11 a.m. today, according to the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office.

Neel Acharya. An Indian student studying at Purdue University who had been missing since Sunday has died. The Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office said that authorities discovered a body on Purdue’s campus at 11 a.m. The student who died has been named as Neel Acharya.

In fact, Gauri Acharya, the deceased student’s mother, posted on social media X (previously Twitter) on Sunday, pleading for people to help her recover her son. He added in the post, ‘Our son Neil Acharya has been missing since yesterday, January 28th, at 12:30 pm, and is a student at Purdue University in America. He was last spotted by the Uber driver who drove Neal to Purdue University. We’re looking for any information we can get on him. If you know anything, please let us know.

Neel’s mother had appealed

The Consulate General of India in Chicago responded to his post on X by saying, “The Consulate is also in touch with Purdue University officials and Neil’s family.” The Consulate will provide all available assistance and support. According to the Purdue Exponent, an independent multimedia organization, interim Chief Science Officer Chris Clifton disclosed Neil Acharya’s death to students and faculty on Monday.

Indian student attacked with a hammer

Another Indian student was brutally murdered earlier this week by a homeless man who repeatedly attacked him with a hammer inside a store in Lithonia, Georgia, United States. A video of the incident became popular on social media, although the exact date could not be confirmed.

The man who was witnessed hitting Vivek Saini is apparently homeless. According to a source familiar with the situation, police authorities reacted quickly and arrested people. As an Indian citizen, the victim’s body was returned to Vivek’s family in India on January 24, according to an official.
