Faltering innings after a bright start

Chasing the target of 192 runs, the Indian team had scored 40 runs without any loss till stumps on the third day. On the fourth day of the Ranchi Test, India continued its innings with this score. Yashasvi Jaiswal (37) and captain Rohit Sharma (55) made a partnership of 84 runs for the first wicket. Joe Root broke this partnership by getting Jaiswal caught by James Anderson at short third man.

After this, Rohit Sharma also got stumped out on Hartley’s ball after completing his half-century. Rohit Sharma scored 55 runs in 81 balls with the help of 5 fours and one six. Rajat Patidar once again disappointed and without opening the account, he returned to the pavilion after being caught by Ollie Pope off the ball of Shoaib Bashir.

Bashir increased India’s problems by dismissing Ravindra Jadeja (4) and Sarfaraz Khan in two consecutive balls. From here, Shubman Gill (52) and Dhruv Jurail (39) took charge and played cautiously to take the Indian innings forward. Both the batsmen did not take any risks against the English bowlers and also hit fours when they got the chance. Gill and Jurail sealed India’s victory by making an unbeaten partnership of 72 runs.

Shoaib Bashir took maximum three wickets for England. Joe Root and Tom Hartley got one success each. The Indian team has captured the series 3-1.
