After being dominated in the main fight of UFC 296 in the welterweight title fight against champion Leon Edwards, Colby Covington‘s performance negatively surprised many people. Including Dana White, president of the UFC.
The president made a sincere analysis of Covington’s performance, who was making his third title fight and probably his last. Dana was asked whether Colby may have felt pressure with the presence of Donald Trump, former president of the United States, at the event to support him. However, he simply pointed out that the 35-year-old American looked “old and slow”.

I think pressure affects everyone. I’m sure Leon was under a lot of pressure. Leon was talking about what he (Colby) said about his dad, and you know, the last thing you want to do is go out there and lose to this guy. All these guys deal with pressure, but Colby has had great fights before. He’s been here before. Colby just looked old and slow in my opinion,” he said.
Colby Covington finds himself in a complicated situation in the UFC
With the third and probably the last title fight in his UFC career, Colby Covington has had just six fights in the last five years and stands out most for his controversial statements, many of them prejudiced and racist. During the week of UFC 296, for example, “Chaos” used the death of Leon Edwards’ father to provoke him.
With 17 wins and four losses, Colby dropped to fifth place in the welterweight category rankings in the latest update made by the UFC, last Monday (18).
