PM Modi’s program in Dubai
PM Modi is set to attend and address the inaugural session of the World Climate Action Summit – the high-level segment of COP28 – on Friday. He is also scheduled to participate in three other high-level side events.
Before leaving for Dubai, Modi said in a statement that “COP28 will provide an opportunity to review the progress made under the Paris Agreement and chart a way for the future course on climate action.”
The COP28 summit is being held under the UAE chairmanship from 30 November to 12 December. According to reports, this year’s COP28 is expected to emphasize the importance of collective action to curb climate change and the important role of finance in the low-carbon transition. It is also likely to focus on channeling money for climate action from rich countries to poor countries.
