The business let go of almost 2000 employees
According to Pakistani newspaper Dawn, the Chinese company, Power Construction Corporation of China (PCCC), has suspended civil works at the Tarbela 5th Extension Hydropower Project in Swabi district of KP province following the death of Chinese nationals in a suicide attack in Shangla district and More than 2,000 workers have been laid off.
The company cited security reasons
No terrorist organization has taken responsibility for this suicide attack that took place in the country on Tuesday. At the same time, the manager of PCCC has also issued a notification in this regard. According to the notification, the site employees and office staff members of the project have been quarantined till further orders due to security reasons. The manager said in his order that only employees called by the heads of their respective sections will come to work.
Chinese citizens have been attacked before too
Let it be known that this is not the first time that Chinese citizens have been attacked in Pakistan. On July 14, 2021, a few kilometers from the Dasu dam site in Kohistan, there was a previous attack on Chinese citizens that resulted in the deaths of nine Chinese engineers and four Pakistani laborers, as well as more than 23 injuries.
