Because of the many benefits of avocado, people include it in their diet, but if we tell you that avocado, which is a storehouse of nutrients, can be harmful for your kidneys, will you believe it? If you are surprised to hear this, then let us tell you that this is completely true. Avocado, which is effective in preventing many health problems, is harmful for people with kidney problems. Let us know how-

How harmful is avocado?

Although avocado proves to be a panacea for many problems, it can be harmful for people with kidney disease. According to health experts, healthy kidneys control the level of potassium in the body, but when the kidneys get damaged, potassium can accumulate in the blood, causing a condition called hyperkalemia. In such a situation, consumption of high potassium foods like avocado can be fatal for people with kidney disease.

That’s why avoid avocado

This is because avocado can further increase potassium levels in the blood, potentially leading to heartbeat abnormalities, muscle weakness, or even cardiac arrest in severe cases. According to the American Kidney Fund, hyperkalemia can even lead to heart attack or death. Unfortunately, many people with hyperkalemia may not experience symptoms until any serious heart health problems develop.

If you are at risk of kidney diseases, then also avoid 5 food items-

Bananas

Potassium-rich bananas can increase potassium levels in the blood, potentially worsening symptoms of kidney disease.

Oranges

Being a source of high potassium, people with kidney problems should avoid orange and its juice.

Processed meat

Bacon, sausage, deli meats and other processed meats are high in sodium and phosphorus, which can stress the kidneys and impair kidney function.

Canned Soups and Food

These often contain high levels of sodium, which can contribute to high blood pressure and fluid retention, which puts extra strain on the kidneys.

Dairy products

Milk, cheese and curd are high in phosphorus and potassium, so people with kidney disease should consume them in moderation or choose products with less phosphorus and potassium.
