Pakistan Army carried out airstrikes in border areas of Afghanistan, resulting in the death of eight civilians, including women and children. These attacks targeted civilian homes in Khost and Paktika provinces near the Pakistan border. At the same time, now Afghanistan has also given a befitting reply to Pakistan’s attacks.

Afghanistan retaliated

Afghanistan has also retaliated after the attack by Pakistan. Afghan forces targeted Pakistani military posts along the border, becoming the first retaliatory attack by the Taliban since they took power more than two years ago.

The Taliban-controlled Defense Ministry announced on Twitter that Afghanistan’s National Islamic Army is retaliating against Pakistan by using heavy weaponry to strike military outposts near the border. Forces from the defense and security sectors are prepared to counter any hostile move.

Pakistan threatened to retaliate

The assaults took place the day after President Asif Ali Zardari threatened to exact revenge following the terrorist attack on a security forces base in North Waziristan that claimed the lives of seven troops, including two commanders. The organization Hafiz Gul Bahadar has declared themselves to be behind the horrific assault.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry confirmed a “counter-terrorism operation” in Afghan border areas targeting the same group, a faction of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) responsible for increasing border violence against Pakistani security forces.

Afghan warned

On the other hand, the Taliban government condemned the air strikes and called it a violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty. He warned that such actions could lead to serious consequences and the possibility of escalation of incidents could be beyond Pakistan’s capacity to manage.

Accusing each other

Asif Durrani, Pakistan’s Special Envoy to Afghanistan, said on Saturday that Afghanistan has been providing sanctuary to terrorists, including between 5,000 and 6,000 members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and their families.

Afghanistan disputed these assertions, stating that it does not accept the existence of any foreign organizations there and that they are not permitted to conduct business there.
