Heather Presdi, a 41-year-old nurse from Pennsylvania, USA, was found guilty on three charges of murder and nineteen counts of attempted murder. She was given a life sentence.
For three years, the American had attempted to murder several patients by giving them deadly dosages of insulin. On Saturday, the found guilty nurse received a sentence ranging from 380 to 760 years in jail. She was held accountable for the deaths of at least 17 people in five different medical facilities between 2020 and 2023, the court was informed.
Presdi was charged with administering excessive doses of insulin to 22 patients—some of whom did not have diabetes. The majority of patients passed away either right away or after taking the medication for a while. The victims were between 43 and 104 years old.
The investigation started in May last year
Early in May of last year, the nurse was accused of killing two patients; a police investigation that followed resulted in more allegations against Presdi.
Her behavior has already drawn criticism from coworkers who claim she treats her patients with disdain and frequently says improper things about them.
She used to discuss patient harm with her mother.
Presdi expressed her dissatisfaction with patients, coworkers, and even strangers she saw at restaurants in text messages to her mother. She also frequently discussed hurting them.
He entered a guilty plea in front of the judge during the hearing. When a lawyer for Presdi questioned why the man entered a guilty plea? Presdi said, “Because I am guilty,” to that.
Presdi worked in several nursing homes from 2018 to 2023, her license was suspended following the initial allegations.
