On Monday, September 9, Apple is getting ready to launch its newest iPhone models during a much awaited keynote presentation. The formal release of the new iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, and iPhone 16 Pro is scheduled for Friday, September 20. This event is anticipated to unveil these devices. This is a thorough overview of what we currently know about the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.

Capture Button Insights

The new Capture Button is one of the most anticipated features of the next iPhone 16 series. The location of the button has been clarified by recent 9to5Mac stories. It looks like the Capture Button, which is intended to make taking pictures and recording films easier, is located near the Sleep/Wake button on the iPhone’s long edge. This positioning is consistent with the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, and it is anticipated to be present on all next iPhone models this year, including the Pro variants.

The capacitive design of the Capture Button enhances the camera experience by enabling users to swipe or tap to zoom in and out. Although some sources have suggested that this function might only be accessible on the Pro versions, it is more probable that the iPhone 16 lineup as a whole will have access to it.

Latest Reports and Software Updates

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg claims that iPhone 16 units already have iOS 18 loaded at the manufacturing. This shows that Apple is releasing its products on time. According to Gurman’s most recent update, iOS 18.1 beta 3 and iOS 18.0 beta 8/RC are anticipated to be published shortly and don’t significantly differ from earlier iterations. This assurance on the software’s reliability suggests a seamless launch devoid of significant day-one upgrades.

Another indication that Apple is ready for the September 20 release date is the fact that iPhone 16 devices are currently shipping with iOS 18.

Design Changes for iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus

Particularly in terms of appearance, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will resemble the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. But the difference that will be most obvious is on the back. It is anticipated that the new versions will have a vertical camera alignment instead of the diagonal arrangement found on the earlier generations. With this new orientation, spatial video recording will be supported—a function that works with the Apple Vision Pro.

The Action Button on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will also take the place of the conventional mute/ring switch. This customizable button gives consumers more options by being able to be used for different purposes.

The biggest addition will be the Capture Button, which is positioned to be on the same side as the Sleep/Wake button. It is expected to be positioned around two-thirds of the way down the side, giving consumers an ergonomic benefit.

Display and Battery Improvements

It is anticipated that the screen sizes of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus would remain at 6.1 and 6.7 inches, respectively. The new versions, however, could use a more power-efficient OLED technology, which might prolong or preserve battery life in spite of additional capability.

Additionally, according to reports, Apple could use new battery technology in the iPhone 16 to increase durability and meet with EU rules requiring more readily replaced batteries.

Camera Upgrades

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus’s camera configuration is probably going to be the same as it was on the iPhone 15 series. This has a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor in addition to the 48-megapixel primary sensor. Additionally, a telephoto effect will be produced by reducing the primary sensor’s core 12 megapixels.

Performance and Processor

As opposed to previous generations when the Pro versions received different CPUs, Apple is anticipated to equip all iPhone 16 variants with the A18 chip. Apple Intelligence, a platform for artificial intelligence that attempts to improve numerous functions across devices, will be supported by the new A18 processor.

Enhancements in thermal regulation are also expected to tackle any overheating concerns that existed with the iPhone 15 Pro.

Pricing and Release Date

On September 9, Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 16 series; on September 20, the device will be officially released. It’s probable that preorders will open on September 13. The anticipated prices, based on historical pricing trends, are:

  • iPhone 16: $799
  • iPhone 16 Plus: $899
  • iPhone 16 Pro: $1099
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: $1199

New Accessories and Additional Announcements

Apple is anticipated to release additional accessories in addition to the iPhone 16 series. These consist of the AirPods 4, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and Apple Watch Series 10. While the Apple Watch Ultra 3 could come with a new processor with improved functions, the Apple Watch Series 10 is probably going to have a smaller design and more sophisticated health monitoring features. There are rumors that the mid-tier edition of the AirPods 4 will include active noise cancellation for the first time.

All things considered, there are a lot of intriguing developments and advances promised for the next Apple presentation. Watch this space for more updates and in-depth details after the September 9 event.
