PM Modi today announced the names of the astronauts of the Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission. This will be India’s first space mission in which astronauts will be taken to space in low orbit for some time. Gaganyaan mission will be launched in 2025 and under this, two to three astronauts will be sent into space in a low orbit of 400 kilometers.
Gaganyaan Mission. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited ISRO’s Vikram Sarabhai Space Center in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. During this, he inaugurated the Trisonic Wind Tunnel Project from this centre.
PM Modi also reviewed the Gaganyaan mission with ISRO Chief S Somnath. Along with this, PM announced the names of astronauts of Gaganyaan human space flight mission. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wore astronaut wings to the four astronauts involved in the Gaganyaan mission.

1) Prashant Balakrishnan Nair
2) Angad Pratap
3) Ajit Krishnan
4)Shubhanshu Shukla
After the announcement of the names of the astronauts, PM Modi said, “I want everyone to stand up and greet our astronauts.”
PM Modi further said, “Today we all are witnessing a historic journey. Some time ago, the country got acquainted with its 4 Gaganyaan passengers for the first time. These are not just 4 names and 4 humans, they are 140 crore aspirations. There are four forces that can take us to space. After 40 years, an Indian is going to go to space. But this time the time is ours, the countdown is also ours and the rocket is also ours.”
ISRO shared training video
ISRO has also shared a video of the training session of these four astronauts. All four astronauts have gone to Russia and taken training.

How important is the Gaganyaan mission?
This will be India’s first such space mission, in which astronauts will be taken to space in low orbit for some time.

After spending two to three days in space, they will be safely landed back under the sea in the Indian Ocean.
