Shoe thrown at female MLA in assembly
As stated in a Dawn article from Pakistan, on February 20, a lady named Sobia Shahid, an MLA, was attacked in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. Amir Muqam, the provincial president of the PML-N, stated that PTI employees who were part in the incident also yelled obscenities and hurled slurs directed at the female MLA. According to him, the February 20 event demonstrates that PTI employees lack social graces.
Demand for action from the Assembly Speaker
Amir Muqam said that PTI had invited goons to the assembly who insulted the opposition members, especially women. He said that PTI violated the sanctity of the House.
Amir Muqam demanded action from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker on the attack on the woman leader.
Demand for investigation
Muqam emphasized that the attack should be looked into right away and called it a serious concern. He remarked that the province as a whole has been disrespected by this act. Muqam stated, “We have video clips to prove that bottles were thrown at Sobia Shahid at the assembly,” Dawn claimed. Whoever is responsible, he argued, ought to be detained and punished.
The leader of the PML-N stated that while PTI MLAs were demonstrating to demand seats in the assembly designated for women and non-Muslims, PTI was also showing its hypocrisy by summoning the assembly into session.
He demanded a probe by the Federal Investigation Agency into the incident as the local police did not register an FIR against those who threw shoes and stones in the Assembly.
