Team India won the toss and elected to bat first in the second ODI of the series. Many double centuries were scored in Test cricket, but scoring a double century in ODI seemed impossible to everyone. After Sehwag returned to the pavilion, Sachin Tendulkar along with Dinesh Karthik took charge. Sachin hit a lot of fours and sixes and did not spare any South African bowler. Master Blaster got good support from Karthik. Karthik played a brilliant inning of 79 runs facing 85 balls.
Sachin scored his first double century
On the Gwalior ground that day, Sachin Tendulkar was batting with a peculiar rhythm. In ODI cricket, Sachin accomplished something that almost no one had ever dreamed when he took one run in the 50th over. Sachin played a 200-run undefeated inning while facing 147 balls. In the 50-over format, Sachin made history by being the first batsman in the world to record two centuries. During his inning, the Master Blaster smacked three big sixes and twenty-five fours.
India had registered a resounding victory
Apart from Sachin Tendulkar, captain MS Dhoni also contributed a lot in the last overs. Mahi played an unbeaten inning of 68 runs on 35 balls, while Yusuf Pathan contributed 36 runs. Batting first, the Indian team scored 401 runs losing 3 wickets on the score board. In response, the South African team collapsed after scoring 248 runs despite AB de Villiers’ century.
