According to police, the plane crashed after taking off about 180 km from Asuncion. Ruling Colorado Party MP Walter Harms and his team members were aboard the plane and he and three other people died in the accident.

Paraguay’s Vice President Pedro Eliana expressed grief over the incident. “I have received the sad news of the passing of my colleague and friend Walter Harms,” he said on social media platform X.
