More than thirty applications from independent candidates supported by the party of imprisoned former prime minister Imran Khan were denied by a Pakistani court on Tuesday. Top PML-N figures, including former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz, were accused of staging a “sham victory” in the petition.
The Lahore High Court on February 8 allowed the defeated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party-backed candidates to approach the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for redressal of their grievances, including alleged vote rigging, while dismissing the petitions. Asked for.

Justice Ali Bakar Najafi of the Lahore High Court said, “In another case the Supreme Court clearly ruled that the extraordinary jurisdiction of the High Court cannot be reduced to the ordinary jurisdiction of the High Court, because there are disputed questions of facts. cannot be resolved.”
He ruled, “If no ordinary remedy is available, the extraordinary remedy of constitutional jurisdiction may be invoked.” The court dismissed the petitions directing the petitioners to approach the ECP for redressal of their grievances.

Amidst allegations of vote rigging, top PTI lawyer Sardar Latif Khosa claimed that his party had won 170 seats in the National Assembly. “PTI was denied over 80 NA seats by extraordinary manipulation in order to keep the party from forming the government in Islamabad with a two-thirds majority.,” he stated. PTI, he said, was ready to fight back in court and recover its “usurped” seats.
