Eye on Olympic qualifiers
Savita said that this session has been very good for us. I am happy that we overcame the challenges. We kept getting better with every match. Young players also showed good spirit. Now our focus is on the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Olympic Qualifiers to be held from January 13 to 19 in Ranchi. The Indian team is eyeing a ticket to the Paris Olympics.
India has been placed in Pool B along with New Zealand, the USA, and Italy. Pool A includes Germany, Japan, Chile, and the Czech Republic. The top four teams will advance to the semi-finals and the top three teams will get Olympic tickets.
Savita Poonia said, “When I started playing, I never thought that I would go so far. Any achievement in team sports is not based on individual efforts but on teamwork. It feels good when your hard work is recognized and it motivates the entire team.”
