The evidence gathered by the ED demonstrates that Arvind Kejriwal was the mastermind behind the plot and took a hands-on role in using and hiding the profits of criminal activity. In the course of this, the court also made a significant observation about the testimony of the government witness.
The High Court delivered a severe blow to Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister, on Tuesday. Kejriwal was detained in connection with the liquor scandal. Arvind Kejriwal’s plea contesting his detention and ED remand was denied by the Delhi High Court.
In its ruling, the court stated that the evidence gathered by the ED demonstrated Arvind Kejriwal’s role in organizing the plot. Kejriwal took a proactive role in using and hiding the money obtained from criminal activity. In addition, the ED case makes clear that he was directly involved as the Aam Aadmi Party convenor.
The court ruled that the statute pertaining to government witnesses is over a century old, not just one year. It cannot be said that Kejriwal, the petitioner in this case, was the intended target of the scheme. In addition, the High Court stated that Kejriwal would have a legal right to obtain the records despite the failure to provide them.
High Court has reprimanded the petition to remove him from the post of CM
Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Sandeep Kumar was severely punished by the High Court for his plea calling for the resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was detained in connection with the Delhi liquor scandal. The court stated that this is merely a publicity stunt because two petitions on the identical matter have previously been denied. They ought to be hit with a hefty fine in this case.
Justice Subramaniam Prasad, while transferring the petition to the bench of the Acting Chief Justice, said that the bench had heard similar petitions earlier also. Recently, the bench had transferred the petitions to itself, directing all similar cases to be heard together.
