The ABC dating show “The Golden Bachelor” pair, Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist, who became engaged on the show and then married live on television, are divorcing. The couple made the announcement on Friday, around three months after exchanging vows.
In the famous “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” spinoff series, Turner, 72, was the first “Golden Bachelor.” Turner was besotted by twenty-two women between the ages of sixty and seventy-five, and in the end, he proposed to Nist, who was seventy-nine.
During an appearance on “Good Morning America,” Turner said that he and Nist “had a number of heart-to-heart conversations” and came to a mutual decision to “dissolve our marriage.” Throughout the interview, the two clasped hands, and Turner declared his continued love for Nist.
They do, however, reside in separate places. Theresa resides in New Jersey, whereas Gerry is in Indiana. He mentioned that throughout their talks over their future together, they considered their “living situation.”
“The thing that impresses me the most in our talks, it’s been how committed both of us are to our families,” Turner stated. “I think both of us believe it’s best for the good feelings of each of us to spend time apart.”
The first spouses of Nist and Turner both passed away. Nist has a son and a daughter, while Turner has two children.
The pair first connected while filming “The Golden Bachelor” in August 2023. Their wedding special, “The Golden Wedding,” debuted live on January 4. Numerous competitors from both their season and previous seasons of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” attended their wedding.
The pair stated they have a prenuptial agreement during the Friday interview and advised others to follow suit. They said that they didn’t want to deter others from giving love another go.
“The number of people who told us that it gave them such hope is probably incalculable. Nist stated, “We don’t want anything to alter for anyone.
