The Pakistani Army was using this police station as a base camp, according to news agency Reuters. Security officials, speaking about the incident, stated that they were worried that the military ammo stored inside the police station would explode catastrophically, but that fear was unfounded.

No formal confirmation of the number of deaths has been provided. Interior Minister Sarfaraz Bugti expressed sorrow over the deaths and denounced the attack in a statement released by the Army office.
