Refugees narrated their ordeal

55-year-old Mohammad Ismail Rafi, who lived in Chaman for 22 years, narrated his ordeal. He said that we spent three days on the border in Pakistan. Our situation was terrible. Thank God we returned to our country. Mohammad Ismail Rafi had to leave his residence in Pakistan along with 16 family members. It took them six days to reach a makeshift tent across the border.

Ismail Rafi accused Pakistan officials of taking bribes to process his repatriation. However, Pakistani officials vehemently denied these allegations. According to the report, Ismail Rafi had to live in a rented house in Kandahar before going to his ancestral home in Helmand province.

Taliban’s request to Pakistan

Meanwhile, the Taliban recently urged Afghan refugees not to be forcibly deported. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid recently called for countries hosting Afghan refugees not to forcibly deport them, as the migrants currently have no preparation.

He said that due to wars in Afghanistan in the last 45 years, Afghans have been forced to migrate to different countries. He said the Afghans did not cause problems or instability in the host countries. In such a situation, he requested the neighboring countries to treat Afghans fairly.

Pak government’s ultimatum

It should be noted that the interim government of Pakistan had given a request to the Afghan refugees to leave the country by October 31. During this time frame, approximately 21 lakh Afghan refugees were asked to leave Pakistan. If Afghan refugees do not leave Pakistan, they will face forced deportation.
