NASA has been sued by a Florida-based family in the United States. The family is suing NASA for damages totaling almost $80,000. In fact, a space debris weighing around 700 kilos struck the Florida family’s house on March 8, 2021, causing a hole in their roof. The event took place at Alejandro Otero’s Naplus, Florida, house.

Who was present at home?

Alejandro was not home at the time of the occurrence. The only one at home was his son Daniel, who called to let him know about it. Otera said to a local TV station, “I was shocked to hear that.” I was taken aback and wondered what might have fallen on our house to cause a hole in the roof.

Actually, this debris was part of the cargo palette of used batteries. This information was given by NASA itself. For information, let us know that in 2021, it was released as garbage from the International Space Station. This waste is completely burnt as soon as it enters the atmosphere. However, one piece was saved and the garbage spilled straight into Alejandro’s house.

Family demands big deal from NASA

Mika Nguyen Varthy, the family’s attorney, took the situation seriously and stated that the family’s situation was extremely perilous because it also had an impact on their life. The family are requesting payment. Although he is grateful that no one in his family was harmed, he finds the occurrence to be quite terrifying. Another person may have perished if the rubble had dropped in a different direction. The family has given NASA over six months to abide with their demand for compensation.
