Twitter X company updated its privacy policy
According to a CNN report, X has updated its privacy policy and now plans to collect users’ biometric data, and job and education history. The company said in its new policy, which will be effective from September 29, “Based on your consent, we may collect and use your biometric information for safety and security and identification.”
Let us tell you that currently, biometrics are for premium users and they are given the option to submit their government ID and a photo for verification. Biometric data ID and photo can later be used for profile matching.
The company says that this will give us additional help in identifying people who create personal accounts with the help of their government-issued IDs. This will help X to keep the user account secure. Also, the account will not be accessible by any other person. The report also states that apart from biometric information, the social media site may also ask for a user’s job and education history.
The microblogging platform has not defined biometrics in its policy. However, the term generally refers to automated technology, including facial recognition software, fingerprint taking, and palm and iris scanning. These biometrics are used to uniquely identify the human body.
