Akshata, daughter of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy, expressed pride in Sunak’s many achievements and how his honesty and integrity first attracted her to him.
On Wednesday, everyone was taken aback when Britain’s First Lady Akshata Murthy appeared outside to introduce her husband Rishi Sunak on a political stage. Akshata referred to him during this time as her “best friend.” For his first speech as Prime Minister, Sunak had traveled to Manchester for the Conservative Party convention.
Murthy, during her speech, claimed that her husband was not aware of the gate crashing (warm-up event) at the centerpiece of the party’s annual convention and that her decision had surprised even their daughters Krishna and Anushka.
The daughter of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy expressed pride in Sunak’s many achievements and described how his honesty and integrity first attracted her to him when they met as students at Stanford University.
Murthy said, ‘Rishi and I are each other’s best friends. We are a team and I can’t imagine being anywhere else today than here to show my support for him and the party.
He said, Rishi and I met at the age of twenty-four when both of us were studying in America. From the very beginning, I was impressed by two things about him… his deep love for his home, Britain, and his sincere desire to ensure that as many people as possible get opportunities. Akshata said that living with Rishi was the easiest decision of her life.
At the same time, Rishi Sunak addressed the Conservative Party conference as party leader and gave the example of his promotion as Prime Minister, saying that this is proof that Britain is not a racist country and the color of their skin does not matter. It doesn’t matter.
“Never let anyone say this is a racist country,” Sunak said. He said, My story is a British story of how a family can reach Downing Street in three generations.
